Membership is free and open to all student-run publications in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. ‘Publication membership’ automatically covers all journalists working on a magazine/ newspaper/ website for the duration of their time volunteering there.
Individuals may also apply for free membership, even if their publication does not currently hold a membership with the SPA. This is better suited to those on a journalism degree or who do NOT sit on the editorial team of a student publication.
Before sending an application, make sure you check the list of current members to see if your publication is already affiliated.
All applications are reviewed by a member of the committee, and you should receive a confirmation of membership within 31 working days.
Should you have any problems, queries or questions, contact our membership officer at communications@spajournalism.com.
By signing up for membership to the Student Publication Association you agree to abide by the Editor’s Code of Practice and our constitution.
You also agree to receive communications from us about the SPA, but we promise not to send your details to anyone else. It will be held by the SPA until you opt out of us processing your data (which you can do by contacting the email above), or until updated data is provided.
