#SPANC15 sees more than 100 student journalists descend on Southampton
Applications open for new cohort of regional officers
After an incredibly successful year for student journalists, we held our annual awards evening to celebrate some of the best and most-cutting edge work.
24 student journalists and publications were honoured over 12 categories, from best feature to best photographer, all judged by a panel of independent expert judges.
The biggest winners of the night were tabloid titans ROAR who walked away with four wins and two highly commended places.
Cardiff University also provided some tough competition with Quench Magazine clinching a win for Best Feature and Gair Rhydd adding a further two to the pile.
Simon O’Hagan, editor of the Independent’s Voices section and SPANC15 judge, said: “The fun of speaking this morning was only slightly offset by the realisation that these ace student journalists are my future bosses.”
