Project Officers

SPA Project Officers work with the SPA Executive Committee to provide support on specific projects, such as the digitisation of projects and advocating on behalf of our members.

The other teams that comprise the SPA are our Executive Committee, Regional Officers and Trustee Board.

Digital Media Officer –


Advocacy Officer – Tabitha Boyton

We are thrilled to introduce Tabitha Boyton FRSA, an experienced and passionate advocate, as a candidate for the position of Advocacy Officer. With a strong commitment to championing free speech, press freedom, and the rights of student journalists, Tabitha is well-equipped to excel in this role and contribute to the success of the SPA.
Having gained a First Class degree in Law and Politics with International Relations. Currently, she is training to be a barrister having been aided by several prestigious scholarships from Gray’s Inn and the University of Law.
As a dyslexic, mixed-race woman, Tabitha understands firsthand the importance of safeguarding the rights of journalists and student publications to report on crucial issues without fear of censorship or reprisal. With a profound belief in the power of journalism to hold institutions accountable and amplify the voices of marginalised communities, Tabitha is driven to advance the cause of press freedom both on campus and beyond.
Beyond her legal pursuits, she is the Founder and Editor in Chiefof the multi-award winning interdisciplinary publication “Res Publica”.


Alumni Officer – Tabi Lambie

Tabi is the SPA’s Alumni Officer, and former Training & Opportunities Officer. As a student, she was the Editor-in-Chief of SCAN: Student Comment and News at Lancaster University.
In that role, Tabi successfully led SCAN to shortlists for Best National Publication, Best Newspaper Design, and eventually secured Highly Commended for Best Sports Section 2023. Personally, she has been shortlisted for the Billy Dowling-Reid Outstanding Commitment Award 2022, Best News Story 2023, and received Highly Commended for Best Journalist in the North 2023.
Outside of SPA she works as Editor of Protection Reporter, sister publication to Financial Reporter. Tabi is also Editor of BeLikeThat Magazine, a newsletter celebrating #belikethat voices fighting for change.
