#SPANC25 location and dates revealed
The Student Publication Association’s National Conference for 2025 will be held in Exeter!
Our annual conference is a weekend packed full of journalism talks, workshops, networking and awards, and we can’t wait to bring it to Devon’s historic city.
#SPANC25 will be hosted from 4th – 6th April by Exeposé, the University of Exeter’s student newspaper. More details on tickets will follow in the new year, but for now you can register to be notified when tickets go on sale here.
On hosting the conference, Exeposé’s Editors-in-Chief said, “We are absolutely delighted to be chosen as hosts for #SPANC25. The SPA does great work in supporting and spotlighting student journalism, and the national conference is the annual culmination of their efforts. We can't wait to show you all what Exeter has to offer. See you in April!"
Each year, SPANC features a weekend of talks and workshops aimed at students attempting to begin their career in journalism, with last year’s speakers including BBC Newscast’s Adam Fleming, The Spectator’s diary reporter Lucy Dunn and the FT Weekend Magazine’s food and drink editor Harriet Fitch Little.
The conference also includes the SPA’s annual national awards ceremony.

''I’m delighted that #SPANC25 will take place in Exeter. Hosted by Exeposé, a highly decorated member of the SPA, the annual conference hopes to welcome up to 300 delegates from across the UK and Republic of Ireland for the biggest event in student journalism.
A heartfelt thank you to all publications who took the time to bid this year. SPANC wouldn’t be possible without the desire from our member publications to host. Your engagement is everything.
I look forward to working with the Exeposé team and, most importantly, celebrating the work of our amazing members at #SPANC25.''

“We are thrilled that Exeter has been chosen as the location for #SPANC25. Exeposé has a long and storied history after bringing top-quality student journalism to students at our university for over 35 years and we are so excited to now be working with the SPA to showcase student work across the country.
Working with Exeter media societies, we plan to create an inclusive conference with opportunities for everyone to get involved and of course create the best weekend possible. We cannot wait to welcome hundreds of student journalists to our wonderful city and university this April to celebrate another successful year of student journalism in the UK and Ireland!”

"We're so excited to be taking SPANC to Exeter this year - although it was very close between the bids we received and we thank everyone who applied.
Exeposé has rarely been out of our awards shortlists in the last few years, so it will be great for them to be able to show SPA members from across the UK and Ireland their city, and to host the biggest event in the student journalism calendar."
More details of the SPA's 2025 National Conference and ticket information will be released in the coming weeks and months, as well as news of how to enter our national awards.
